Blog Entries, Pics & Links

Here are links to detailed accounts of the most recent trips to Kenya and India. 5-7 pictures are included at the end of each blog entry. Enjoy.

This entry gives a detailed account of the days (and nights) living in a semi-jungle area of Southern India attempting to develop a dance program teaching fun-filled discipline to over 100 leprosy affected children and youth.

Some miraculous events ending up on India's "So You Think You Can Dance" equivalent. Programs start up in Vilivakkam Leprosy Colony with full cooperation from Padma Venkatraman. Buildup to the grand presentation by the children for villagers and leprosy colonists alike (sitting side by side!).

This is recounts his second trip to Kenya as Shaun tries to reestablish bonds and connections from 9 months previous. Instituting a training program for the Boys Choir of Kenya, revisiting Soweto where he lived and built programs during the civil war of '07 and the miracle he found there. Also, the beginning of a new program in the slums of Kibera with the help of local musicians and dancers.

Follow along as Promethean Spark makes progress with the programs in the slums of Soweto and Kibera and is able to begin programs at Kamiti Prison with over 100 male inmates between 18 and 23 years old. Scandal at an orphanage of 700 children ends in closed doors for them and for us. Boys Choir of Kenya join Shaun in the field and get hands-on experience in order to take over the programs when he leaves.

Stay tuned for more to come as we receive entries from Katie Winder who is currently volunteering as our full-time Promethean Spark Instructor in India.

Collaborating with these fabulous organizations has made the impossible, possible.... Thank You.

RSO is our sister organization in India that is making all this possible. Check out all the amazing work they are doing in the leprosy colonies and at the school.
RTC is our sister organization who opened the doors to a whole new world of opportunity for service in Kenya. See the great work they are doing in lives of the impoverished all across Africa.
The BCK, founded and directed by Muyale Inzai, has been invaluable in providing housing, service, outreach and true friendship to Promethean Spark in Kenya as we have embarked on this artistic adventure together.
Melania Gamboa (student at Danceworks) and Maria Laura Pardo Manucci (director) among others have jumped on board to help start programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the IAFA (Alcoholism and Drug Rehab Association) and the CND (National Dance Company of Costa Rica).
