What is PROMETHEAN SPARK?
Promethean Spark is... dedicated to teaching life skills through training in the performing arts to impoverished youth worldwide; breaking the cycle of poverty by inspiring change from within. We work with children and youth (from the streets of slums, orphanages, prisons and leprosy colonies) teaching discipline, focus, concentration, perseverance, exercise, self-esteem, leadership, etc. through therapeutic, arts-based, health-minded programs. We set up hubs for outreach both in the U.S. and in developing countries to provide consistent training and development opportunities in various styles of music and dance. Through enjoyable discipline, growth through hard work, experiencing the feeling of success and being a creator in their own right, their mental frame of reference shifts. A fire is lit within. The life lessons they learn from these programs are invaluable as they apply them to any endeavor they may choose to pursue the rest of their lives.
Once a dance or movement-based program is established in a given location, local volunteers are trained to continue the programs. Then professional artists both in dance and other disciplines are mobilized to share their time and talents by developing ongoing workshops helping the children find a new paradigm for life; one which allows them to see their potential and makes the impossible, possible.
